behind the lens: carli davidson

I've just discovered the work of Carli Davidson this week. She is both an internationally recognized award winning photographer and an experienced animal trainer and caretaker. She is able to capture the innate personalities of her subjects using her professional understanding of animal behavior. Carli spends much of her shoot rolling on the ground with her subject, getting in their skin as much as possible and encouraging them to open up to the camera.

She is the artist behind 'Shake', a series of photos consists of portraits of dogs as they shake off water. I love it! : )

She also takes photos of pets with disabilities.
Here is Ramen Noodle. He was rescued from an unsafe living environment after losing his first leg. His second leg was lost after a miscalculated jump off of a chair. Ramen gets around very well on his two hind legs, and has a wheelchair to assist him for long walks or rough terrain.

Here are some other beautiful snapshots from Carli Davidson.
